Siliguri, 13th April: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee is set to visit Siliguri on Wednesday, where she will participate in a ‘padyatra’ in support of party candidate Gautam Deb. Preparations by both the administration and the party have intensified ahead of the high-profile visit.
With large crowds expected during the Bengali New Year, security and logistical arrangements are being closely monitored. On Monday, Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza inspected the proposed route of the ‘padyatra’. He was accompanied by senior police officials including Deputy Commissioner (East) Rana Mukherjee, DCP (Traffic) Quazi Saamsuddin Ahamed, and DCP Headquarters Tapanjoy Sarkar, along with other officials.
Trinamool Congress leaders, including Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar and party workers, also visited the site as part of the preparations. Officials reviewed the entire area to ensure security arrangements for the Chief Minister’s visit.
According to sources, the Chief Minister’s helicopter is expected to land at Hindi High School ground in Siliguri, which was also inspected during the visit. Authorities are focusing on ensuring smooth movement and security arrangements for the event.
Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar stated that preparations are being made to ensure that the general public can meet the party leader without inconvenience during the programme.
