Malda mob beats man on suspicion of child-kidnapping

Malda, 20th January: A man was attacked by a mob for attempting to kidnap a child from a wedding ceremony. The incident surfaced from the Budabudi Tala area adjacent to National Highway 34 in English Bazar. At present, the accused is undergoing treatment at Malda Medical College Hospital.
According to sources, a wedding ceremony was being held in Chhotan Singh’s house, a resident of the said area. As most of the people were engrossed in their work, the accused took advantage of the situation and tried to flee carrying Chhotan Singh’s niece in his arms. The people grew suspicious and caught him and beat him en masse.
As soon as the information was received, the English Bazar police reached the spot and detained the young man. Police are investigating the incident.
