Siliguri, 20th February: Ahead of the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, administrative preparations have intensified. Following directives from the Election Commission, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police has transferred 36 Sub-Inspector (SI) rank officers. This is the second transfer list, which includes changes in the officers-in-charge (OCs) of several police stations, outposts, and chowkis.
According to the list, OCs of Panitanki, Ashighar, and NBMC (North Bengal Medical College) outposts have been replaced. Significant reshuffles have also taken place across Siliguri Police Station, Pradhan Nagar Police Station, Matigara Police Station, Women Police Station, and NJP Police Station, among other units.
Police sources stated that transfers of long-serving officers at the same posting are conducted under Election Commission guidelines to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections. All transferred officers will assume charge at their new postings soon.
With elections approaching, further transfers of ICs and other senior officers are also expected.
