Mahananda Barrage in spate at Fulbari as continuous rainfall raises water level

Fulbari, 24th June: The Mahananda Barrage in Fulbari, near Siliguri, is in spate following incessant rainfall in the hills and plains over the past few days. As a result, several lock gates of the barrage have been opened to manage the rising water levels.

According to reports, the consistent downpour has caused a significant rise in the water level of the Mahananda River. With water now flowing at high speed, authorities have opened multiple gates to ease the pressure.

Weather forecasts indicate that rainfall is likely to continue in the region, raising concerns over further increase in the river’s water level. The situation is being closely monitored by the concerned departments.
