Mahakal temple foundation stone to be laid in Siliguri on 16 January, Mayor inspects preparations

Siliguri, 10th January: The foundation stone of the Mahakal Temple will be laid in Siliguri on 16 January. Ahead of the programme, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb on Saturday visited the site to review the preparations.

During the inspection, the mayor was accompanied by the SJDA chairman, the Darjeeling District Magistrate, the Police Commissioner, the DCP (Traffic), and officials from various departments. Arrangements related to security, connectivity, traffic management and other key aspects were reviewed during the visit.

After the inspection, Mayor Gautam Deb said that once the Mahakal Temple is constructed, it is expected to attract a large number of devotees and tourists from both India and abroad. He pointed out that the location is geographically important, with Nepal on one side, Bhutan on the other, and proximity to Bagdogra Airport ensuring connectivity with different parts of the country.

He added that these factors were taken into consideration while selecting the site in a planned manner for the construction of the temple.
