Kalchini, 01st November: Panic gripped the residents, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after a wild elephant was spotted in the Gudamdabri area of Purba Satali village of Kalchini block.
According to reports, a wild tusker entered the village from Buxa Tiger Reserve forest. The elephant was wandering in several locations of the areas, during which, it came on the way of the locals. Upon receiving the news, the forest personnel of Hamiltonganj Range of the Buxa Tiger Reserve arrived at the spot and initiated to chase the elephant towards the forest.
In this regard, the locals stated that such incidents occur frequently and occasionally destroy the crops of the area’s residents. They added that they were terrified by wild elephant attacks.
