Cooch Behar, 21st February: The locals of the Thanesar area of Cooch Behar-II block staged a protest by shutting down the market in the area. During the protest, the people also blocked the road. According to the information, a local resident named Himanshu Sarkar went to the Thanesar Bazaar, on Thursday night. It has been alleged that two individuals identified as Kamal Adhikari and Sushant Ishwar assaulted him, which left Himanshu Sarkar severely injured.
Upon receiving the news, the family members rushed him to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Outraged by the incident, the local people staged a protest demanding immediate arrest of the accused. However, the local people withdrew the protest after an assurance was provided by the Police. The Police are further investigating the case.
