Locals collect funds to help elderly couple build a house in Bhandari Gachh of Rajganj

Rajganj, 05th January: In a remarkable initiative, the locals of the Bhandari Gachh area of Rajganj extended their helping hands towards an underprivileged elderly couple by collecting donations to build a tin house. In this regard, Binnaguri Gram Panchayat Pradhan Samijuddin Ahmed also assisted in helping the couple.

As per details received, the elderly couple, Samaru Mohammad (72), and his wife resided in a hut situated in the said area and were survived by no children. Due to his old age, Samaru had lost the capability to work. On the other hand, his wife used to earn a living by working as a maid. Significantly, after observing the current circumstance, the locals collected thousands of rupees and utilized it to build a new house out of concrete pillars, wood, and tin for the couple.

In this regard, Panchayat Pradhan Samijuddin Ahmed expressed that the Bhandari Gachh region is his electoral booth. However, the elderly couple was void of proper shelter and faced numerous hardships. Despite the fact that the couple’s name is on the ‘Awas Yojna’ list, they are not eligible for the plan because the central government did not allocate it. As a result, the locals undertook the commendable initiative and collectively built a house for them with the assistance of the Panchayat Pradhan. In addition, he applauded the remarkable initiative undertaken by the area’s residents.
