Liquor smuggling attempt to Bihar foiled in Siliguri, one arrested

Siliguri, 19th February: Ahead of Holi, a liquor smuggling attempt to Bihar was foiled by Pradhan Nagar police in Siliguri, who arrested one person at the Siliguri junction. The accused has been identified as Govind Kumar Prasad.


According to sources, with rising demand for liquor in Bihar ahead of Holi, Govind Kumar Prasad attempted to illegally transport foreign liquor from Sikkim to Bihar on Wednesday night. Acting on intelligence, Pradhan Nagar police launched an operation at the junction and stopped him for inspection.

During the search, police recovered a large number of liquor bottles from his trolley bag, with an estimated market value of around ₹1 lakh. The accused did not possess any valid documents for the liquor.


Following the seizure, Govind Kumar Prasad was arrested and presented before the Siliguri Court. Police have initiated further investigation into the case.
