Leopard skin recovered in Rajganj, two arrested

Rajganj, 05th February: Forest workers of the Belakoba Range Office recovered a leopard skin, on Saturday, from a small four-wheeler passenger vehicle at Jalpai More in Siliguri. Two persons identified as Pasang Lama( 39) and Siring Tamang (35) were arrested in the incident. Both are residents of Darjeeling.


According to Forest Department sources, the Belakoba Range Office received a tip-off regarding leopard skin being smuggled. Based on that source, Range Officer Sanjay Dutta led the operation and searched the vehicle at Jalpai More. The skin was recovered from a school bag inside the vehicle.

During interrogation by forest officials, the arrested individuals confessed that the leopard skin was being taken to Nepal for smuggling. They will be sent to Jalpaiguri court on Sunday.
