Phansidewa, 09th January: A leopard was found trapped in a cage planted by the forest department in Matidhar Tea Estate, Phansidewa on Saturday.
On sighting the leopard trapped in the cage this morning, a crowd of people started gathering in the area. Soon after receiving the information, the forest personnel of Bagdogra range reached the spot and rescued the leopard.
Tea garden workers said that the leopard had been roaming in the area for a few days, after which the plantation management contacted the forest department and a cage was later planted in the estate.
