Leopard cubs spotted in tea garden, panic grips area in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri, 18th January: Panic spread in the Bhandiguri tea garden area of Jalpaiguri district after two leopard cubs were spotted inside the plantation.

According to sources, the sudden disappearance of the mother leopard has heightened fear among residents and tea garden workers. The two cubs were seen wandering around a drain inside the garden, apparently searching for their mother.

Tea garden workers were alarmed after spotting the cubs earlier in the day. Considering safety concerns, the management decided to temporarily suspend work in the garden.

Upon receiving information, forest personnel from the Belakoba range under the Baikunthapur Forest Division rushed to the spot.

Forest officials said efforts are underway to create a safe transit route so that the mother leopard can return during the night and move the cubs back into the forest. The forest department is keeping a close watch on the entire situation.
