Left’s 12-hour bandh makes no impact in NJP station

Siliguri, 12th February: The 12-hour strike called by the Left had no significant impact on the NJP station this morning.

It is to be noted that the left front leaders held Nabanna Abhiyan on Thursday in support of several demands including the setting up of new industries in the state and unemployment. The atmosphere boiled up in the Dharmatala area surrounding the campaign. Police resorted to lathi-charge and used tear gas and water cannons. In the course, several workers and activists were injured. Protesting against the incident, the Left front called for a 12-hour strike across Bengal on today.

The bandh call evoked little response in the NJP station. The train services remained largely normal and vehicle services are also operating normally. The drivers said that they do not consider the strike as they already have faced immense loss due to the lockdown. Hence, they claimed to continue their work as usual.
