Left leaders attempt to close Siliguri Girls’ High School, Headmistress steps in

Siliguri, 12th February:  The Left Front has called for 12 hours Bandh in Bengal on Friday to protest after its workers were allegedly beaten up during a march to Nabanna in Kolkata.

Since this morning, the Left’s student wing and other organizations have taken to the streets to make the bandh successful in Siliguri. Apart from this, a bike rally was also organized. The rally circled various routes in the city and closed shops open at various places.

Meanwhile, schools, which remained closed since the coronavirus-induced lockdown in March, reopened today for 9-12 class students in Siliguri as per the government’s instructions.

As per the report, the left leaders and activists charged to Siliguri Girls’ High School and tried to close the school. However, Headmistress Atyuha Bagchi stepped in and asked the activists to leave the school premises. She clearly stated that the school reopened today after a long gap and so the students’ studies cannot be interrupted in any way.
