Naxalbari, 30th June: Residents of Naxalbari have raised serious concerns over alleged poor quality road work under a project initiated by the North Bengal Development Department (NBDD).
As per reports, work on a 2.3 km road from Kilaram Jote to Ketugabur Jote has been underway for the past few months at a cost of ₹2.60 crore. Locals have alleged that the concrete pouring on both sides of the paver block road is being done without proper soil excavation and is of substandard quality.
On Monday, residents expressed anger, stating that if the work continues in this manner, the road may collapse in the near future. They have demanded that the road be constructed properly and without further delay.
In response, Maniram Gram Panchayat Pradhan Gautam Ghosh said no official complaint has been received against the contractor company so far. However, he assured that poor quality work would not be tolerated and confirmed that the contractor will be summoned for an on-site inspection.
