Siliguri, 11th February: The Left front called for a 12-hour bandh tomorrow protesting against the attack on the left workers and supporters during the Nabanna Abhiyan. The Darjeeling District SFI staged a rally in Siliguri in support of the bandh.
It is to be noted that the left front leaders held Nabanna Abhiyan on Thursday in support of several demands including the setting up of new industries in the state and unemployment. The atmosphere boiled up in the Dharmatala area surrounding the campaign. Police resorted to lathi-charge and used tear gas and water cannons. In the course, several workers and activists were injured.
