Kharibari, 22nd June: A significant haul of identification documents, including Aadhaar and Voter Cards, has been recovered from a shop in Panitanki, leading to the arrest of a youth named Prasenjit Barman.
Reportedly, acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at a shop on the Indo-Nepal border in Kharibari, uncovering 22 Aadhaar Cards, 12 PAN Cards, multiple Ration Cards, 8 Voter Cards, 10 Birth Certificates, and 2 Caste Certificates. Additionally, computers, laptops, and printers were seized from the premises.
Police sources indicate that an investigation is underway to determine the authenticity of the recovered documents and whether Prasenjit Barman was involved in producing fake documents for monetary gain.
The accused has been presented in the Siliguri Magistrate Court on Saturday. The Kharibari police have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident.
