Landslide in Sikkim claims three lives, causes widespread damage

Sikkim, 10th June: Heavy rains triggered a landslide in the Namchi district of Sikkim on Monday morning, resulting in the deaths of three people in Yangang. The victims have been identified as two men and one woman.


According to sources from the Sikkim administration, the heavy rainfall has caused landslides in multiple areas across the state, leading to the collapse of several houses. Rescue operations have been initiated by the Sikkim administration to assist those affected by the disaster.

The landslides have also caused significant disruption to infrastructure, with roads blocked in various locations and the bridge connecting Yangang and Ravangla completely destroyed. Communications in the affected areas have been severely impacted as a result.
