Rajganj, 31st January: Land mafias have been accused of forcibly occupying the lands of the tribal people in the Mantadari Gram Panchayat area of Rajganj.
It has been alleged that the land mafias are trying to encroach the lands of the tribal people. The tribal people have expressed their anger as no steps have been taken by the Police. Maniram Oraon, an owner of a piece of land, stated that there are about 130 bighas of land belonging to 26 tribal families. The lands are being forcibly occupied by the land mafias in Saraswatipur and its surrounding areas. Despite providing information at the Police station, in this regard, no action is being taken. The landowners have also formed a committee to protect their lands.
Meanwhile, the Milan Pally Police stated that they have received no information in this regard. They further stated that if the owners of the lands lodge a written complaint, then the incident will be investigated. At the same time, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Rajganj, NC Sherpa, stated that he too has not received any information regarding the incident in the Mantadari area. He further stated that the matter will still be investigated.
