Rajganj, 26th September: On Monday, the significant festival of ‘Karam Puja’ was widely observed in several areas of Rajganj. The event was organized in various tea estates including Fatinga Line, Saraswatipur located in the Rajganj block.
According to reports, ‘Karam Puja’ marks one of the most significant festivals of the tribal community and is widely observed annually on the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha in the traditional month of ‘Bhadra’. Significantly, it is known that the festival is graced by the sisters fasting for their brothers’ long life and well-being.
On Monday, Karam Puja is held in ‘Mahasamaroh’ in different sections of Rajganj. The celebrations commenced earlier in the morning and continued until late at night. Members of the tribe were witnessed dancing to the traditional rhythm of ‘Dhamsa Madal’ amid religious fervor.
In this regard, Sagar Oraon, a member of the community highlighted the significance of the festival and stated its prevalence in the Fatinga Line for nine years. The annual celebrations witness a large number of devotees actively participating in the event.
