Junior doctor joins hunger strike at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital

Siliguri, 14th October: The junior doctors of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) have continued a hunger strike and put forth a 10-point demand. The protest has been carried out alongside similar protests in Kolkata. On Monday, junior doctor Sandeep Mandal joined the hunger strikers, alongside fellow doctors Souvik Banerjee and Alok Verma.

Reportedly, since October 6, the junior doctors at NBMCH have been on a continuous hunger strike. During this period, several other doctors have participated in symbolic protests in support of their cause. On Monday, Sandeep Mandal officially began his hunger strike, while other doctors, including those from volunteer organizations and senior medical staff, also participated.

In this regard, junior doctor Sandeep Mandal expressed frustration over the government’s lack of response despite so many days of protests. He asserted that if the government cannot provide their rightful claim to justice then there was nothing more to say. He emphasized his commitment to the movement by joining the hunger strike.
