Siliguri, 28th December: Panic spread in Siliguri after a jewellery store on Hill Cart Road was burgled late Saturday night, marking yet another theft in the area.
According to sources, the incident came to light on Sunday morning when a shop employee arrived to open the store and noticed signs of the break-in. The burglars entered the shop by breaking through a wall and fled with around 30 kg of silver and an estimated 100 to 200 grams of gold.
Although the miscreants attempted to cut open the shop’s locker, they failed to remove the gold stored inside. They also took away the DVR box of the CCTV cameras installed in the shop, apparently to avoid identification.
