Jalpaiguri, 15th May: An atmosphere of tension and fear engulfed the Jalpaiguri area after obscene pictures of women, along with filthy comments, were posted on social media through a fake account.
Few women residing in the Jalpaiguri police line area alleged that such an act is being done targetting the women in the locality and rumors are also being spread regarding them. They further added that the stalkers involved in the act keep track of their movement during the entire day. Even young girls are not being spared.
After the matter came to light, the women lodged a complaint at the Jalpaiguri Cyber Police Station as well as the Jalpaiguri Women’s Police Station. However, they expressed outrage as no required action was taken by the police yet.
The agitated women further stated that the notorious act being carried out has been a social disgrace over the women amid the pandemic. They strongly believe that someone from the locality is involved behind the incident and demanded the administration to immediately identify the culprits and punish them soon.
An investigation has been launched on behalf of the Cyber Crime Branch.
