Naxalbari, 03rd December: On Sunday, the International Day of Disabled Persons was observed by the Naxalbari Handicapped Welfare Society. On this occasion, a procession was undertaken in various routes of Naxalbari.
According to reports, in addition to the grand procession, a health checkup camp and drawing competition were organized. The event witnessed the presence of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh, Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandamoy Barman former MLA Shankar Malakar and other public representatives. The presence of leaders of three political parties on one stage, in support of the event, portrayed a positive image.
Speaking at the occasion, society member Tapas Vaidya stated that the International Day of disabled persons is being observed through processions and various programs. He added that the MLAs and Sabhadhipati have assured cooperation. Additionally, the President of Naxalbari Panchayat Samiti has also assured of several developmental works.
