Cooch Behar, 23rd November: In a daring heist in broad daylight, a group of three men robbed cash worth Rs 19 lakh from Uttarbanga Kshetriya Gramin Bank in Nigamnagar area under Block No. 1 of Dinhata assembly. The incident took place around 10 am this morning.
Reportedly, the branch of Uttarbanga Kshetriya Gramin Bank is situated in a rented house in Nigamnagar area. Three men entered the bank premises posing as customers. When the cashier opened the vault, the robbers seized the opportunity and lifted around Rs 19 lakh. They managed to flee away on a motorcycle.
After receiving the news, IC Suraj Thapa of Dinhata Police Station reached the spot with the police personnel and started an investigation. It has been learned that there was no security guard deployed at the moment and no CCTV cameras are installed in the branch.
The owner of the house Sukanta Chakraborty said, ” I learned that the robbery happened after 10 o’clock. The miscreants ran away with around 19 lakh rupees.”
