Siliguri, 17th March: The Sukna Forest Department conducted a raid at a furniture shop in Milan More and seized illegally made furniture worth lakhs of rupees. Five employees were also detained in connection with the case.
According to information from the Forest Department, the shop had been manufacturing furniture using stolen wood for some time. Acting on a tip-off, forest personnel, led by Sukna Forest Department Ranger Deepak Rasaily, carried out the operation.
However, upon learning of the Forest Department’s arrival, the shop owner fled the scene. As no valid documents were available for the furniture, the forest personnel seized the timber and finished goods from the shop.
Additionally, five workers were detained for further questioning. The Forest Department has launched an investigation into the entire incident.
