Fulbari, 20th February: Mayor of Siliguri, Gautam Deb, hinted at shifting his political focus to Siliguri, saying, “I will not contest from Dabgram-Fulbari, I am moving towards Siliguri, returning to my birthplace,” during a road foundation-laying ceremony in Fulbari’s Paschim Dhantala area of the Dabgram-Fulbari constituency. His remarks carried a tone of clear regret.
On Friday, Gautam Deb laid the foundation for a nearly 1.5-kilometer-long paver block road in Paschim Dhantala village under Fulbari II Gram Panchayat. The ceremony saw the presence of Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad Chairperson Krishna Roy Barman, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Zilla Parishad member Monisha Roy, Pradhan Rafikul Islam, and other dignitaries.
The road will be constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 73 lakh under the supervision of WBSRDA and funded with support from SDRF. The long-standing demand of local residents is expected to be fulfilled, bringing relief and happiness to the community.
