Siliguri, 25th February: Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb handed over cheques to beneficiaries of the ‘Housing for All’ scheme at a programme held at Dinabandhu Mancha under the initiative of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Municipal Corporation, the Deputy Mayor, Members of the Mayor-in-Council and councillors. According to officials, cheques were distributed to 8 to 10 families on the day.
The Mayor stated that financial assistance for house construction has been disbursed to a total of 738 beneficiaries over the past few days.
A discussion meeting was also held with ASHA workers during the programme. Key issues such as increase in their income following the recent state budget announcement and provision of 180 days of maternity leave were discussed in detail.
Mayor Deb said that ASHA workers are an integral part of society and assured that the administration remains committed to safeguarding their legitimate demands and welfare benefits.
