Siliguri, 13th August: Sensation prevailed in the area of Matigara when a horrific fire broke out in a paint godown. The gigantic rising flame created a chaotic situation among the crowd. However, the fire was brought under control after putting effort by the four engines of the fire brigade and the team of NDRF.
Reportedly, the locals saw black smoke coming out and flames engulfing the said godown which is located in the market adjacent to Matigara police station. The police arrived shortly and informed the fire department. The two fire engines from Matigara fire station reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire. The firefighters were compelled to use chemicals due to fearsome fire started rising more and more. Even after umpteen attempts, the fire was still out of control. Later, the NDRF team were informed and called on the spot.
After this, the fire brigade team and the NDRF team brought the fire under control after two hours of constant efforts. The blazing conflagration burned down the godown into ashes. A Matigara fire brigade official said that the fire was brought under control after two hours of effort and with the help of four engines. They are further investigating the reason behind the fire. At the same time, the NDRF official stated that his team reached the spot as soon as the fire broke out in the godown. After which the fire was brought under control with the help of the fire department.
