Hooligans vandalize police van in Siliguri when asked to stop playing loud music, three arrested

Siliguri, 03rd December: Police had to reach the Neech Basti area of Hatiadanga near Ashighar after receiving a complaint of a DJ playing loud music till the late hours of the night. However, the people present in the said program allegedly got enraged when the police asked them to stop the loud music. The situation heated to such an extent that they vandalized the patrolling van of Ashighar Out Post. Apart from this, the people present in the program expressed their anger and besieged the police. 


On the other hand, soon after getting the news of the incident, OC Biswajit Ghosh of the Ashighar Out Post reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Along with this, three people were taken into custody.

The accused have been identified as Sarbon Paswan (22), Sanjay Rajak (34), and Mahesh Sahni (22). Police registered a case against the three accused under the criminal section and presented them in the Jalpaiguri court today. The police have demanded the remand of the three accused from the court.


It is to be noted that the Kolkata High Court has banned DJs keeping in mind to curb noise pollution and the social environment. As per the directions of the High Court, Siliguri Metropolitan Police is appealing to the people not to play loud music but questions have arisen with the occurrence of last night’s incident.
