Siliguri, 13th January: A family from the Baribhasa area under NJP police station was attacked by a few youths on Tuesday night. In the course, an elderly woman from the said family, who is battling cancer, was severely injured and admitted to the Siliguri District Hospital.
As per the report, loud music was being played at a local club till late Sunday night. Jewel Roy, a local of the area, urged club’s people to stop the noise and the incident was settled shortly after.
Allegedly, on Tuesday night, some youths suddenly attacked Jewel Roy’s family and attacked his ailing mother. During the course, the locals detained one of the youth. Following which, around 20-25 people arrived at the spot holding bamboo sticks.
Later, the NJP police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Two people were also detained.
