Hindu-Muslim come together to celebrate Vishwakarma Puja at the Fulbari border

Fulbari, 15th September: In a display of communal harmony, Hindu and Muslim communities come together to celebrate Vishwakarma Puja at the Fulbari border. For the past 27 years, people from both communities have celebrated the festival together. This annual event symbolizes the spirit of interfaith harmony in the region.

According to reports, the Fulbari border area is a hub of trade with thousands of trucks engaged in business with Bangladesh. Various associations, including truck drivers and owners, have collectively organized the Puja with vibrant festivities. However, this year, due to a significant drop in cross-border trade, the celebrations are not as grand as earlier. Despite this, the essence of communal harmony remains intact.

Key organizers of the event, Shubankar Naskar and Abdul Khalek, emphasized the longstanding tradition of this Puja. They noted that people from all religions come together each year to celebrate, as preparations for this year’s event are underway. The Puja will feature an idol from Kumartuli in Kolkata and include various cultural programs. The organizers are optimistic that the event will continue to attract many visitors and uphold the spirit of unity.
