Kharibari, 05th March: Panic spread in the Thanjhora area along the Ghoshpukur-Kharibari state road after a height restriction bar collapsed following a collision with a container truck. The iron structure fell onto a four-wheeler, though the driver narrowly escaped unhurt.
According to sources, the car was returning from a wedding ceremony when the incident occurred. At the same time, a container truck heading towards Ghoshpukur struck the height bar installed by the administration at Thanjhora More in Kharibari. The impact caused the iron height bar to break and fall onto the four-wheeler.
Vehicular movement came to a halt on both sides of the road after the incident. Locals alleged that the administration had installed the height bar to prevent goods vehicles carrying loads above 15 tonnes from using the route, but heavy vehicles often continue to pass through the area during night hours.
Upon receiving information, police from Kharibari Police Station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The container truck involved in the incident has been seized by the police.
