Head-on collision between two cars on Panighata-Bagdogra road claims life of junior doctor, four injured

Naxalbari, 29th December: A head-on collision between two cars on the Panighata-Bagdogra state road near Kadma More in Naxalbari claimed the life of a woman junior doctor from North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), while four others were injured on Sunday.


According to sources, four people, including two women junior doctors from North Bengal Medical College, were travelling in a car towards Panighata when another four-wheeler, returning to Siliguri, collided with their vehicle from the opposite direction near Kadma More. The impact caused serious injuries.

Police personnel from Naxalbari police station and Naxalbari Traffic Guard rushed to the spot. The injured were rescued and initially taken to NBMCH, where one of the junior doctors, identified as Sayantani Bhaduri, succumbed to her injuries.


The remaining three injured persons were taken to Naxalbari Hospital. Of them, two were later shifted to NBMCH as their condition was critical, while one person was discharged after receiving primary treatment.

Both accident-hit vehicles have been seized, and police have launched an investigation into the incident.
