Harvest festival Karam Puja celebrated grandly across Jalpaiguri district

Jalpaiguri, 15th September: Karam Puja, the largest festival of the tribal community, was celebrated with pomp across various locations in Jalpaiguri district.


On Saturday night, celebrations were held at the Karlavalley Tea Factory in the Mohit area of Jalpaiguri. A massive pavilion was set up at the Karlavalley football ground for the celebrations. People from all age groups participated in the occasion. Women dressed in traditional yellow sarees to participate in the puja.

In addition to this, the festival was observed with great enthusiasm in several other areas including
Saraswatipur Tea Resort and Fatinga Line in Rajganj. During this, Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy, Jalpaiguri Municipal Corporation Vice Chairman Saikat Chattopadhyay, INTTUC District President Tapan Dey, and Rajganj Block Youth TMC President Arindam Banerjee, among others were present. The festival was marked by vibrant tribal dance performances to the beat of the traditional folk music instrument madal.
