Siliguri, 16th September: Eid Milad ul-Nabi was celebrated in Siliguri with a grand procession, continuing the tradition observed every year.
Starting Monday morning, processions were taken out from various parts of the city. The main procession commenced from Burdwan Road and circled Mahatma Gandhi More on Hill Cart Road, with Tajia being carried as part of the event. The procession saw a large turnout from the Muslim community.
The event at Jhankar More was attended by notable figures, including Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, All India Imam Association President Maulana MD Bakibillah Molla, Siliguri Metropolitan Police DCP East Deepak Sarkar, SJDA CEO Abhijit Shevale, Borough Committee No. 2 Chairman Mohammad Alam Khan, and SMC Leader of Opposition Amit Jain.
During the event, Mayor Gautam Deb took the opportunity to extend greetings to everyone while speaking to the media.
