Siliguri, 14th November: A lottery seller was robbed of his gold chain near the Indoor Stadium on Friday morning, sparking panic in the locality.
Reportedly, two bike-borne miscreants approached from behind while Mintu Talukdar was opening his shop and snatched the chain before fleeing on an Assam-registered motorcycle.
Hearing his screams, nearby traders rushed to the spot. Police from Siliguri police station soon arrived, checked CCTV footage from the area and launched an investigation.
Talukdar said the incident happened suddenly and estimated the value of the stolen chain at around ₹3 lakh. He has urged police to arrest the culprits and recover his chain at the earliest.
