Darjeeling, 09th April: Gorkha Janmukti Morcha President Binay Tamang, on Thursday, stated that it has not been officially declared whether the two suspected COVID-19 patients from Darjeeling have tested positive. However, they have been taken to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) in Siliguri as precautionary measures. The results of the duo’s tests are yet to come.
“I hope and I pray to God that the duo will test negative and that they can return to their families,” Tamang added.
The GJM leader stated that from the 12 proposed quarantine centres in Darjeeling and Kalimpong district 5 of them have already started functioning in Kalimpong with the rest of them to start within a week’s time.
Tamang further added that the decision on the extension of the coronavirus lockdown will be taken by the Central and State government depending on the ground report.
