Bagdogra, 06th December: The Ghoshpukur outpost police under Phansidewa police station recovered a large quantity of liquor before it could be smuggled to other states. The arrested accused have been identified as Sandeep Mahato and Minajul Rahman, residents of the Siliguri Bhaktinagar area.
Reportedly, the police, acting on a tip-off, detained a pickup van loaded with cattle feed in front of Ghoshpukur Toll Plaza. After searching the vehicle, 1657 bottles of liquor were recovered. The driver and assistant driver were arrested in the incident.
According to police sources, the liquor was being transported from NJP to Purnia in Bihar. The market value of the recovered liquor is around Rs 3 lakh. The duo was sent to Siliguri court today.
