Siliguri, 09th November: Ghoom Winter Festival will start on 12th November and is likely to increase tourist attraction. Railway Department has taken initiative to make India’s Highest located railway station Ghoom station more attractive for tourists and visitors.
The Ghoom Festival was started in 2021 under the aegis of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway in Darjeeling and got a good response. Thus, the authorities decided to organize the festival for the second time. This year the winter festival will start from 12th November and will span till 5th December. The festival will showcase an amalgamation of culture, music, and art from the hills.
Col Shubhendu Kumar Choudhary, DRM, Katihar Division inaugurated the logo of the Ghoom Winter Festival today. Jalpaiguri MP Jayanta Roy and others were also present on the occasion. Speaking in this regard, DRM Col Shubhendu Kumar Choudhary said that this year the theme of the festival is “Ghoom Barabar Ghoom”. Tourists can avail toy train tour at night on the occasion of the festival. Also, cultural programs will be organized throughout the day. Local artists and artists from other places will participate in the event. He further said that they are hopeful for many tourists to come this year and become a hit like last year.
