Rajganj, 04th September: Sensation prevailed after a Gharial was rescued from the Nagar river in Vitiar village of Raiganj, on Friday. Several villagers crowded the area to get a glimpse of the reptile. Later, the locals handed it over to the forest department.
According to sources, the residents were terrified when they saw the creature floating in the said river. However, some youths of the locality tied a rope and brought it out of the river.
In this context, the locals stated that such reptiles are usually not found in Raiganj’s Nagar River and Kulik River. They further stated that it must have been swept away from the Mahananda or Teesta river.
