Siliguri, 27th March: Siliguri’s Trinamool Congress candidate and Mayor Gautam Deb performed puja at his residence on Friday morning on Ram Navami. He offered prayers at the home temple and also sang Ram bhajans. He was heard singing “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” after the puja.
Later, he visited various temples across the city and participated in Ram Navami processions. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that Lord Ram resides in everyone’s heart and people have followed his path for generations. He also gave a message of respecting all religions.
Gautam Deb remarked that his singing of Ram bhajans was aimed at the Bharatiya Janata Party, adding that good sense should prevail.
However, Siliguri’s Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Shankar Ghosh refused to comment on the matter. He said that Gautam Deb would do many such things during the election period.
