Gangamaya Park in Darjeeling reopens today

Darjeeling, 03rd March: The Gangamaya Park in Darjeeling was reopened for tourists, today, after the completion of almost 3 years renovation and repair works. The ticket system to the Park along with Rock garden has been reintroduced.

It was reported that the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) had stopped taking entry fees for many places under the Tourism Department from 2018 onwards. However, keeping in mind the maintenance costs required for the tourist spots, the ticket system has been brought back.

The GTA Tourism Assistant Director Suraj Sharma stated that Gangamaya Park had been closed for two years as the condition of the road to the Park and Rock garden was not proper. He further stated that the works could not be conducted due to the agitation in 2017, but now the roads have been repaired and the Park has also been renovated.
With waterfalls being the main attraction in both places, boating will also commence at Gangamaya Park soon.
