Fulbari, 28th February: NJP police have arrested another person in connection with the theft at the Maa Shakambari Chandi temple in the Chunavati area of Fulbari. The accused has been identified as Biraj Barman.
The incident took place late on Monday night when miscreants broke the iron gate of the temple, looted the donation jar, stole the idol’s ornaments, and fled with several thousand rupees in cash.
Following a written complaint at NJP police station, an investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of Noor Alam and Rana Dutta on Wednesday night. Money and several pieces of stolen ornaments were recovered from them.
Upon further questioning, police apprehended Biraj Barman from the Paschim Dhantala area of Fulbari on Friday morning and recovered ₹2,000 in cash from him. The arrested individual was presented before the Jalpaiguri District Court on Friday.
The police are continuing their investigation into the case.
