Fulbari truck terminal lying in a neglected condition for past three months

Rajganj, 11th February: The Fulbari truck terminal has been lying in a neglected condition for the past three months. Allegedly, no proper system has been enforced in the said terminal due to which batteries, wheels, and fuel oil are being frequently stolen from trucks. The terminal, currently under the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA), has no security guards stationed too.

As per the report, the said truck terminal located at Fulbari Bypass was earlier managed by a private agency. However, all employees stopped coming to work ever since the news of the untimely demise of the truck terminal manager surfaced, three months ago. The owner also went absconding after a case was filed against him in this regard.

Terminal employee Lablu Haque said that the owner has been absconding since the manager’s death. Hence, no work is being carried out at the moment. He complained of living in severe crisis and demanded the terminal be opened soon.

Supriya Khatun, a local shopkeeper, said that several items are being stolen from her shop due to a lack of a proper security facility in the terminal. She stated that the other traders are too facing losses.

On the other hand, Gaur Saha, the head of the cited agency, also gave the same reasons for the poor condition of the truck terminal. As of now, there is uncertainty regarding the resumption of services at the terminal.
