Fulbari, 17th September: Reconstruction work on the Fulbari-Ghoshpukur bypass road from Fulbari Toll Gate to Intake Well began on Thursday, fulfilling a long-standing demand for the improvement of the road. Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh and Dabgram-Fulbari MLA Sikha Chatterjee inaugurated the work by lighting a ceremonial lamp and unveiling a foundation plaque.
SJDA CEO Bir Bikram Rai, DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed, other administrative officials and local leaders were also present at the programme.
According to information, around 1.40 kilometres of the road from Fulbari Toll Gate to Intake Well will be reconstructed. The road will have a width of 10.50 metres. The existing damaged road surface will be removed and replaced with a new bituminous road. The project is estimated to cost around Rs 8 crore.
Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh said the target is to make the road at least motorable before Durga Puja. He also said that the tender process for the Fulbari Toll Gate is progressing. Further work related to the toll gate will be taken up after the tender process is completed.
The reconstruction of the long-damaged road is expected to improve traffic movement in Fulbari, Ghoshpukur and adjoining areas once the new road is completed.
