Friend arrested in connection with youth’s mysterious death in Siliguri, produced in court

Siliguri, 02nd November: The Panitanki Outpost police have arrested an accused in connection with the mysterious death of a youth in Siliguri. The arrested individual has been identified as Mansur Ali, a resident of Pokai Jote in Ward No. 46 under the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).

According to reports, Rajkumar Mahato, a resident of Pokai Jote, had gone to attend puja festivities on Thursday night with four friends. Later that night, Mahato’s family received a call from one of his friends informing them that Mahato had died in a road accident near the Venus More flyover.

Upon receiving the tragic news, Mahato’s family rushed to Siliguri District Hospital, where they claimed that the death was not an accident but a murder. The family alleged that there were no injury marks on his body, suggesting foul play rather than a road accident, and accused his friends of being involved in his death.

Following the incident, the police from Siliguri police station arrived at the hospital, recovered Mahato’s body, and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem examination. On Friday, after the postmortem, the body was handed over to Mahato’s family. Later that day, the family filed a formal complaint with the police.

Reportedly, based on the complaint, Panitanki Outpost police arrested Mahato’s friend Mansur Ali from Pokai Jote on Friday night. The accused was presented in Siliguri court on Saturday. The police are actively investigating the entire incident.
