Four family members electrocuted to death near Gajoldoba; Siliguri Mayor and Rajganj MLA visit family

Gajoldoba, 28th September: A tragic incident in Dhupguri Basti, Takimari, near Gajoldoba in Rajganj block, claimed the lives of four family members due to electrocution. The victims, including a child and a woman, were electrocuted after attempting to save a cow that had come into contact with a live electric wire on Friday evening.


Reportedly, Paresh Das, the owner of the house, was leading a cow back from the field when the animal touched a hanging electric wire. Paresh was electrocuted while trying to rescue the cow. His son, Mithun Das, rushed to help but was also electrocuted. Hearing their screams, Mithun’s mother, Dipali Das, ran to the spot with her grandson, Subrata Adhikari, in her arms. Both were also electrocuted.

After the incident, the four family members were rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where doctors declared them dead.


On Saturday morning, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb and Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy, along with other officials, visited the grieving family in Dhupguri Basti after receiving news of the tragedy.

Mayor Deb expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating that he visited the family on the instructions of the Chief Minister. He added that the power minister also supported the visit to the family. Further, he stated that the family had made some requests, which would be conveyed to the Chief Minister.
