Former CPI-M leaders join TMC, Goutam Deb hands over party flag

Siliguri, 12th May: Former deputy mayors of Siliguri Municipal Corporation Ram Bhajan Mahato and Kamal Agarwal left the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) and joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Both the leaders were welcomed by Goutam Deb at the Trinamool district office, on Wednesday.


Ram Bhajan Mahato said that he was motivated to quit CPI(M) and join TMC in view of the works done by Mamata Banerjee.
Meanwhile, Kamal Agarwal added that he aspires to work for the common people and to develop the city. He said that this can only be fulfilled if he joins hand with the ruling government. Agarwal added that he joined the TMC “For the sake of Siliguri’s development.”

He further said that he is immensely influenced by Mamta Banerjee’s fight and was determined to join the TMC party since the election results.
