Forest department launches Bengdubi Forest cleanup initiative ahead of World Environment Day

Bagdogra, 03rd June: In preparation for World Environment Day, the forest department has initiated a comprehensive cleaning program for Bengdubi forest. The Bagdogra Range, in collaboration with the Joint Forest Management Committee, has embarked on a seven-day forest clearing operation.

Reportedly, tourists frequently visit the forest and often leave behind plastic bags and water bottles, contributing to pollution. This cleanup effort aims to address and mitigate the littering problem.

Ranger Sonam Bhutia of the Bagdogra Range highlighted the ongoing issue of public awareness regarding forest cleanliness. Despite the imposition of financial fines, the problem persists. On the eve of World Environment Day, Bhutia urged tourists to maintain the forest’s pristine condition and help protect the environment from pollution.
